About Us

Ship's Company is a living history organization dedicated to interpreting the history of the U.S. Navy and the communities that sustained it. Our core areas of focus include sailors, marines, and maritime-adjacent civilians of the following periods:

American Revolution -- 1772-1783
War of 1812 -- 1812-1815
American Civil War -- 1861-65

We are based in the mid-Atlantic and work with museums, historic sites, and schools to provide a variety of programs including naval artillery, life on a frigate, the operation of ship’s boats under oar and sail, historic food preservation and cooking, and the production of naval goods.

The U.S. Navy has always been diverse, and Ship’s Company continues this naval tradition into the 21st century by welcoming participants of all backgrounds. Come join us in bringing this history to life!
